The Hamlins should both be nominated for posthumous recognition by the Australian Government in the next Honours List. We should each contact our MPs and make the suggestion.

She was a remarkable and admirable woman and a great inspiration to me. I will miss her passion, dedication and resilience and look forward to helping make her dream of eradicating obstetric fistula a reality. It was such an honor to have met her in person. Thank you is not enough. Globally and in the country you have dedicated your whole life to helping women to over come Fistulas, an injury that is caused during childbirth. Many women are left with shame and banished to the outskirts of their communities and socially isolated due to the stigma attached with this condition, which is treatable and preventable. Thank you Dr Hamlin for dedicating your life to 2 million people living with Fistulas through your surgeries, education and empowering people to use their voices to help others and creating a sense of inclusion in their communities. Visiting your practice in which you’ve provided free health care for Ethiopian women for 60 years was truely remarkable experience I will never forget. Talking to women who were affected by this was inspiring and humbling moment. Thank you for teaching us all what serving others for the greater good looks like. Thank you for making enormous differences in people’s lives and for giving women living with the condition the dignity, kindness and sense of hope in their future they deserved. Your legacy and your human kindness is unforgettable.

I was inspired by her work- so selfless and humane in the way she lived and the care she provided. Rest In Peace Doctor.

It is amazing how one life can touch us – tears welled when I read the news & I have never met this beautiful lady. I thank God that she & her late husband gave what they knew they could to begin this work, & as Catherine said it will go on long after she dies.
Prayers for her family at this sad but poignant time. Her faith was precious & she put into practice what Jesus would have done, for these women, alongside her husband Reg.
Her (their) memory will live on in the work & lives whom their work has touched.
Thank you Catherine for your example to us all of compassion, & using your gifts & talents to help others.
