JULIE MELLOR
A saint indeed. May her life’s work continue.
January 24th 1924 –
It is with deep sadness we share the news of the passing of Dr Catherine Hamlin, co-founder of Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia.
On Wednesday March 18th Catherine passed away peacefully at her home on the grounds of the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia where she has lived for 61 years.
A saint indeed. May her life’s work continue.
Her story is truely remarkable and incredibly inspiring. What an amazing woman of God, an inspiration to us all.
You touched my heart Beautiful Lady <3 Thank you for what you have done for all those little girls R.I.P
Catherine was a wonderful woman; kind, considerate and encompassing with everyone. I only had the privilege of meeting her and Reg in 1979, but have followed her life and work regularly. What an impact she made through her work and love! May she rest in peace, knowing that she gave her life for the benefit of other women and their families.
An incredible woman, I wish I had the courage to leave such a legacy, in awe of all she achieved.
You inspired me as a midwifery student in Australia in the 90’s and have driven my service to women, babies and families throughout my career. I salute your dedication and service, the world has lost a true heroine and heaven has gained a true saint.
You will be missed but never forgotten, an amazing lady
Thank you Catherine for dedicating your life to poor women of Ethiopia. We will always remember your great works.

Dear lady Thankyou for all the incredible things you have done to improve the lives of so many women. Vale Dr Hamlin 💟
Dr. Hamlin, it is such a big loss for hunanity at large to lose walking saints like you and your husband. As we mourn your death, let’s all take a big lesson what our lives should be like before we are called by God. May your soul rest in eternal peace.
Our darling woman. The only person I’ll ever call my hero. Thankyou for giving Australian girls and boys someone to admire. Your love and hard work will be remembered for generations. It was so wonderful to exist on this earth as the same time as you. All our love the Krisenthal-Collins family.
Thank you for devoting your life to such a worthwhile cause. The women and families of Ethiopia are in debited to you. You are a true role model to us all. Rest in Peace.
With deep gratitude for all the wonderful work you have inspired. My sadness at your passing is only a shadow of that felt by those who were with you – my deepest condolences.
Dr Hamlin – hero.
Thank you Dr Hamlin. The story of your journey with your husband to end fistula and help the women of Ethiopia was an inspiration for so many people. What an amazing and compassionate life you led. You leave an enduring legacy of kindness, and of hope to thousands of women.
We are sorry to hear that this wonderful and humble lady has passed away. We met her at the hospital in Addis Ababa in 2011, she was still operating and tending her garden at the time. Will be sadly missed. Xx
Your incredible work as a doctor caring for vulnerable women has been a great inspiration to me.
A wonderful human being. A wonderful woman.
Dr Catherine, you gave so much of your skill and your heart to those in such desperate need. You were an inspiration in life and will continue to be an inspiration. Thank you for everything. The world is a better place for having had you in it. Rest in Peace.
