I was introduced to the work of Catherine and the Hamlin Fistula hospital in early 2000’s. The mission really struck a cord because I know if not for the availability of modern medical support I would have most likely experienced what the organisation serves to limit. I was also drawn to the mission of funding the training of midwives who can return to their communities to serve. Appreciating the culture of those communities and having an opportunity to influence change. So grateful to the ongoing work of the foundation that was established so long ago. Thank you to Catherine and all those who continue the mission.
I first became aware of the Fistula Hospital when I was working for World Vision Australia.
I was deeply shocked to learn of the plight of these poor women.
I am retired now on a limited income but I will endeavour to contribute to the cause when possible.
My sincerest condolences to everyone on Dr Hamlin’s passing.
A wonderful woman serving her fellow womankind.
My sincere condolences on the loss of such a humble and remarkable human being. I have been deeply inspired by Dr. Catherine’s story and the fight to eradicate fistula and I plan to visit Ethiopia in 2021. Sending strength to all her knew her and prayers that her work will carry on as she wanted it to 💐🌹🌻🌟
RIP. You was a truly remarkable woman.
Words fail me! What an amazing woman and life time servant to all those women, who’s lives would have been misery without the intervention received, as a result of Catherine’s and Richard’s heart for the damaged women of Africa. I have the very deepest admiration and respect for her. May the facility long continue to operate with her mission and vision at the foremost. I know her entrance into heaven would have been “Welcome and well done, good and faithful servant”. What an inspiration, What a role model!
I am so saddened by the passing of Dr Catherine Hamlin. What an amazing life – she improved the lives of so many women and babies – not only by addressing their basic health needs but also by fighting the stigma around birthing and women’s reproductive health. My thoughts are with everyone who knew Dr Hamlin. She was an inspiration and her legacy will live on.
Catherine was such an inspirational woman in all that she has done over an extensive career, in enhancing the quality of life for so many women impacted on from the complications of childbirth.
Deepest sympathy and condolences to her family and all those so connected to her. She will be missed by so many, rest in peace Catherine.

Having supported her incredible work for the last 10 years, we are at Dirty Janes feeling very sad that this saint of a lady has gone. We are determined to carry on supporting her work which has changed the lives of thousands of women in Ethiopia. What a legacy she leaves behind. What an inspiration her work provides to us all – to look at those less fortunate than ourselves and reach out a hand with an offer of help and kindness. In times like this it is always important to remember just how lucky we are. God bless you Dr Catherine – you really were a angel on our earth.
Wonderful woman, Catherine Hamlin, the world has lost a giant advocate for women, African women.
