By Developer,

Honor to the memory of Dr Catherine Hamlin and may somebody Rock-A-her soul forever in the bosom of Abraham🙏

Hundred of thousands of young – FAR TOO YOUNG – girls in the worlds poorest countries owe their regained health and happiness to her.

Catherine Hamlin Fistula Foundation has one purpose and one purpose only: eradicating fistula. Forever.

Cathrine Hamlin deserves the Nobel Peace Prize or the Noble Prize in Medicine OR BOTH for her unbelievable and unselfish work to fight obstetric fistula.

I was awestruck to meet with her in Addis Ababa at “The Hospital by the river” back in 2013.
At the age of 90 she was still operating obstetric fistula on weekly basis in this hospital which symbolized the very manifestation of her life’s meaning.

Read the fantastic and emotionally moving story of her life and her mission: “The Hospital by the river”

Join the efforts to pay due tribute to her:

RIP this wonderful woman.
She leaves a powerful legacy in Ethiopa in the highly-skilled people she has helped train, and in the midwife school and the clinics all over Ethiopa which make treatment more accessible for these young women.

Julie Genders

By Developer,

An overwhelming desire to visit the Fistula Hospital in Addis Ababa lead me to volunteer @ an orphanage for a month in Ethiopia in 2011. Armed with my treasured, 20yearold clipping about “My Heroine” I had the privilege of meeting Dr Catherine in the beautiful sanctuary created by her & her husband. This jourey healed an emotional scar I had endured for 40 years. Dr Catherine (my guardian angel) drew me to the source of healing. Her skills go far beyond those of surgery. The world is a lesser place without you.

By Developer,

I first heard of Dr Hamlin’s work many years ago. I had never heard the word fistula before and was fascinated by the extraordinary work she was doing to support such vulnerable women who were not just effected by what happened to them but also by the stigma attached. Her work in Ethiopia, her support for women and her establishment of this wonderful foundation will long be remembered.
I offer my sincere condolences to those who were closest to her and l hope that in your grief you see how many of us who neither knew her or were affected by her work are still in awe of a life so very well and nobley lived. Rest easy Catherine, while your time here is done, your legacy will wander in Africa for a long time yet.

A truly great woman and example to humankind. Gracious, kind and caring, Catherine inspired hope, strength and courage. Her humility, optimism, and empathy coupled with a majesty touched all who met her. She was nurturing and energetic, and her contribution to the poor was effortless and enduring. She reduced the desolation of tens of thousands of women and gave them and their families new hope. Times spent with Catherine were treasured.
