January 24th 1924 –
It is with deep sadness we share the news of the passing of Dr Catherine Hamlin, co-founder of Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia.
On Wednesday March 18th Catherine passed away peacefully at her home on the grounds of the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia where she has lived for 61 years.

This is indeed a sad day. Let’s hope her legacy continues.
Catherine has been promoted to her heavenly home …
I have been inspired over and over as I read of her life of service and her love for the women of Ethiopia….
You were an amazing and selfless person who gave your life to a cause bigger than yourself. You have changed so many, many people’s lives for the better. You have given women dignity, children their mothers, mothers their babies, families their loved ones healthy and whole.
Thank you. Your life and your work has been a gift to so many.
Thank you Dr Hamlin for your selfless service to humanity. I admire and respect you for the dedication and generosity of your medical life.
