After supporting her cause for over 40 years, I believe that Catherine Hamlin is the greatest woman who has ever lived. She, with her husband Reg, has helped more people (mostly women) than any living person I know. And these women are amongst the most desperately poor and suffering in the world. Their work has been so effective and successful over the last 60 years with the number of fistula operations performed and the push to prevent future fistulas happening by training local midwives in the five additional hospitals built over the last few years that it looks like their goal to eradicate fistulas in Ethiopia will be reached in the near future. What an achievement! And what an amazing legacy she has left. Hooray for Catherine and the future of her dream.
