I first saw Dr Hamlin on a talk show about 40 years ago when I was just 14. She was campaigning to raise funds to continue the work in Ethiopia. I was in awe of her that day and she has been my personal hero ever since. I have been nursing for 37 years and have had many colleagues over the years who have been impressive in their work, their dedication and their compassion. However it is impossible to recall anyone with such dedication and selflessness, such belief in what they need to do and such utter devotion to humanity. I truly believe she is a saint. I am heartbroken at her passing
