I haven’t met Dr Hamlin in person, but I feel strong connection with her, through her extraordinary work, compassion and love to those who needed it most! To me, she is a saint.

I first came to know about her late husband and her work through her book, the hospital by the river. What a beautiful life she had, full of love, dedication and empowerment! To us, to women, to men, to babies, and to families, you will always live! You have empowered many doctors, nurses and midwives in Ethiopia and the rest of Africa. You gave dignity and hope to many young women. Thank you. Your legacy will live on! Sooner or later, your dream to eradicate Fistula will come true.
