Forget the sports people and so called celebrities, Catherine Hamlin was a true superstar
I first heard of Catherine’s via the book The Hospital By The River and immediately donated towards her work. I was immediately struck by the dedication and compassion she, and her husband, had shown towards women suffering from a condition I had never previously heard of. She truly devoted her life to these women who would have had no-one to support them without her.
Her long life has been very well lived. I pass on my condolences to her family and friends.
With sympathy, Stephanie
Catherine,
The world is in your debt. Thank you for your generosity of time and spirit, your training of so many midwives to continue your trail-blazing work, and your inspiration to so many. You are so sadly missed.
I wanted to kiss your hands for a long time but Iam sad now I will not be able to do that any more. You have been a sign of real humanity for me. You made the world a better place. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for touching and saving my fellow Ethiopan women. You are beyond words.
Rest in Peace
I am female. I was born and raised in Ethiopia. I grew up hearing the horror stories of forced marriage, its despicable consequences, and Dr. Hamlin’s effort to help this man-made tragedy. Currently, I live in the USA. I am in the healthcare field, and Dr. Hamlin is one of the reasons why I decided to volunteer with mission trips and pursue higher education so that I can make even a greater impact. Thank you for showing us what it means to live a selfless yet meaningful life. You will always be my hero!!!
We lost such an incredible woman! She lived her life for those forgotten women throughout Ethiopia and saved many of them. Thank you so much for what you did and you will be remembered in our communities. RIP Dr. Catherine!

I am saddened by the loss of such inspirational woman Dr. Cathrine she will live ever in many women’s heart for her unreserved love and great work done. May GOD keep her in his side and rest her in Peace.
Catherine could have lived a life of comfort in her native country, instead she choose to sacrify that for the comfort of poor Ethiopian women. She is the reflection of humanity at its finest. One of the very few who is not answering any questions from God.
“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.” I Love you every day. Now I miss everyday! Lots of love 💓 Ethiopia lost an angel!!!
