My Armenian friend Araxi was Catherine’s dressmaker in Addis Ababa until Araxi came to Australia following unrest in Ethiopia in the early 1970’s. Araxi always spoke very fondly of Dr Catherine Hamlin. I am a midwife & I have been interested in the wonderful work Dr Hamlin & her husband have done in Ethiopia. Araxi is 96 now, the same age as Dr Catherine. Many years ago I took Araxi to a lunch in honour of Dr Catherine & they met again which was lovely. I met Araxi when her grandson attended kindergarten with my daughter. Vale Dr Hamlin, a true Christian, a very special person.
